1/4 mile down Hergest Road from Kington Church, driveway is on left after first brow opposite Cutterbach Lane.

We are trying to make travel between the 8 Kleen Eco Open Building locations in the NW of Herefordshire as simple as possible and many are within walking distance of each other.(Such as this one) A shuttle transport service may be available between the more distant Kleen events depending on demand.This would allow you to start from the public car parks or bus stop in Kington, Mill Street.

There are routes to the next event at Lady Hawkins School Humanities Building either via a public footpath further along Hergest Road, or via a road route into Kington.

An ongoing house refurbishment and trial of various energy reduction and generation approaches, to move towards a net zero carbon footprint, that have included :

3.5kWp Roof Mounted Solar PV since 2004, 3.5kWp ground mounted since 2011

Measurements/graphs of electrical energy use and reduction over many years

Monitoring and records of generated, consumed, exported, and imported electricity

Power Reducer (Elios4You) for automatic immersion control from available PV

Passive Solar Gain house with internally optimised layout to utilise this

Cavity and loft insulation, double glazing, replacement of open fire with Clearview 8kW and back boiler with additional hot water tank, on grid battery storage for powering house ring main during evenings (work in progress), LED and CFL lighting,draughtproffing and sealing, Low Energy Appliances, 3000 litre Rainwater storage system.

Reduction of oil usage from 2500Litres/year to 500Litres,Target is zero. All hotwater from wood stove back boiler or solar.

Electric Vehicle display to include : commercial electric car (Mitsubishi i-miev) with 18 months experience of use, 350kg experimental electric trike, 12hp electric tractor,charging systems

Access to main display areas is level and into information area in conservatory via 2 steps.

Access to ground mount PV system is via steep steps with railings down the hillside.

There will be cake !  Home made plus excellent locally made from Sallys Pantry in Kington.
